Record A Lecture

Open Backnote, start a new recording, and keep the app open while the lecture is in progress. Follow your school, workplace, and local rules before recording anyone.

Transcribe And Review

After recording, open the lecture and run transcription. Review important lines against the audio before relying on them, especially names, formulas, dates, and technical terms.

Organize Courses

Create courses to group related lectures. Add vocabulary corrections for terms a course repeatedly mishears so later transcripts and study material can use the right wording.

Search And Jump

Use search to find words or phrases across lectures. Select a result to open the lecture at the matching moment when timing information is available.

Create Study Material

Open a lecture or course, choose the Study tools, then generate summaries, study guides, practice questions, key terms, flashcards, or course-level study material. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, so treat it as a draft.

Photos And Notes

Add photos to a lecture when you need to keep board work, slides, diagrams, or handwritten notes with the transcript. Pin a photo to the relevant audio moment when useful.

Sync And Backups

If you enable iCloud sync, confirm the same Apple ID is signed in on each device. Large audio files may need time and network availability before they appear elsewhere.

Purchases And Restore

Backnote may offer Remove Ads and Backnote Pro purchases. Use Restore Purchases from Settings after reinstalling the app or setting up another device.
